help please
I downloaded art range today alhamdulillah. I'm trying to draw a scene of a father and son in their backyard while its snowing building a masjid out of snow and the mother is watching from the back porch. I want to put a fence and a tree in the backyard covered with snow but I can't draw so when I was trying to figure out how to use the program I couldn't figure out which brush/es to use or even how to change the colours . Please help me get started...can someone offer tips/pointers insha'Allah. How would I draw the snow? The fence? etc.?

Re: help please
There was a nice tree tutorial in the ArtRage forums -actually there is a lot of helpful info there but of course there is also a lot of unIslamic rubbish so that is something to be wary of.
In the ArtRage programme there is a lot of info that comes with the download (click on 'Help' at the top of the screen and then 'ArtRage Manual') and it is really worthwhile spending a few minutes whenever you can to familiarise yourself with the different tools and their functions.
InshaAllah I will try to find the tree tutorial.
Regarding the snow - the best way to make falling snow is with the use of the glitter tool which comes in the full version - otherwise it will have to be drawn dot by dot. A fallen snow effect with he starter edition can be made with the use of the chalk tool. You can alter the amount of pressure with the tool which is at the mid-left of the screen.
Regarding the colours you can click on the colour of your choice in the colour-pick tool at the bottom-right corner of the screen. There is a sliding button up and down to alter the tone from light to dark (actually it extends to white and black).
Play around to see what you can find inshaAllah and have fun
If you want to know anything just ask

Re: help please
As Salamu Alaikum
Masha Allah you are on your way to learning ArtRage.
Your first port of call will be the Help........spend a few days playing with the controls to get a feel of the different features. like loading, pressure and other controls after that you are limited to your Imagination and ability to control the mouse.
Here's a link that will help
http://www.ambientdesign.com/artragetutorials.html
Most of the tutorials are based on the Full Version but give them a try........I did the lemons painting using the Starter Edition
Have Fun it is a cool Fun Program

Re: help please
Assalaamu'alaikum Sisters,
i read your posts masyaallah got some tutorial from all of you, jazakallahukhair ..
Sister Umm An-Nu'man, i believe your painting will be very beautiful (i cant wait to see it! )
I also feel my computer becoming slow and the movement of the mouse becoming slow too during painting, especially when ever i was using Paint roller and pallete nife tools
Wassalaamu'alaikum,
ray
Ps: Now i feel (actually..i am sure) that i dont have the patience to read-learn-and try each of the features
So what i am doing these days...playing around with ArtRage by trying to make something and learning in same time ( it is not a good way to learn i think...)
it was frustrated when i found out the colours were blended when i was trying to make the flower....then i had to go back to tutorial and found out that i have to put layers (and i found no layers at starter edition ...)
Later on i decided to use only one tool and tried to make the candle light by using only the crayon tool and i felt much better Alhamdulillah...

As Salamu Alaikum
Do you have the paint roller in your version of the Starter Edition of ArtRage sister Ray?
I don't have it in my version mine..... could be mine is an older version.
Insha Allah Sister Aisha will give us tips as she has mastered this program.
No doubt it is a fun program.

As-Salaamu alaikum
I was wondering where is our dear sister Ray - inshaAllah all is well with her.
Regarding the paint colours blending, there is an option in the full version of ArtRage to have insta-dry for the paint - this prevents it from mixing.

I was wondering about her too, then I realised that she said she was moving.
Maybe she is still settling down or has no internet connection yet.
Insha Allah all is well with her.
Jazakallahu Khairan for the tip about blending. I also use different layers now that I have the full edition.
