Pooh Bear and Jannah
Assalaamu alaykum
Mother closes the book. Her son rubs his eyes and yawns.
"Time for bed now," she says gently.
The boy is thinking deeply for a second or two.
"Mama, will there really be a river of honey in Jannah?"
he asks.
"Yes dear," smiles his mother, "it says so in the Quraan."
"Pooh Bear likes honey Mama."
"I know dear."
"Is Pooh Bear in Jannah Mama? I think he lives in Jannah."
"Really, are you sure? I've never seen any rivers of honey where he lives."
"No, there are no rivers of honey in the Hundred Acre Wood," the boy replies thoughtfully.
"But still, he'd like the honey in Jannah Mama."
"Yes he would. That honey tastes so much better than anything found in this world."
"Have you been to Jannah Mama?"
"No dear, I haven't."
"So how do you know the honey is nicer there?"
"Because Allah has told us this in the Quraan.
In the Quraan it says that everything we taste in Jannah will be so much nicer than here."
"I want to go to Jannah Mama."
"Ameen, I do too."
"InshAllah I'll be in Jannah with Pooh Bear."
"InshAllah dear."
After a little thought the son says,
"I want to be in Jannah with you too Mama."
The mother laughs and strokes her little boys head.
"Ameen. InshAllah you'll be in Jannah with both Pooh Bear and me. I think someone should be in bed now, you have school tomorrow."
"O.K. Mama. Assalaamu alaykum."
"Walaykum assalaam."
She kisses him goodnight, and his bear too.
The boy walks up the stairs pulling his bear behind him, bump, bump, bump...…
