My Lord Already Knows
I wrote this poem thinking about when we commit a sin, we hide it from the world because we are ashamed - but Allah subhannahu wa ta'alaa knows, so really is there much point in trying to hide it from Allah subhannahu wa ta'alaa too? Instead, we should repent to Him as there is no point in hiding from the One Who Knows All. :D
My Lord Already Knows
Outwardly, a reflection of a lioness,
Inside, a cowering soul that’s
exposed to the One Who Knows All.
Cowering, hiding but to no avail
Ashamed of deeds sent forth,
Deeds concealed from the world,
Yet, everything in my heart lies bare on a platter,
Obvious,
Attempts at self-deception fruitless.
Mistakes due to tripping up on a rope stretched in front of me,
Falling into the trap of the Cursed One.
Indeed, I know, I truly know,
That my Lord knows all that lies deep within me
My Lord is the One Who Guides, Who frees me.
And yes, in front of the world I may be ashamed.
So I hide, but I hide further knowing,
That the One Who Gave me Life, an existence, a Name,
Knows those deeds that I hide and screen with shame,
My weakness is clear – there’s no lioness’ mane.
Confessing to the One Who already Knows,
The frailties within me, my mistakes cause me woes,
My heart yearns for the Pleasure of My Lord,
And repentance surely is the path to take,
The way to go.
Because, My Lord Allah, already knows.

Sis Mabsoota - that's insha-allah what I hope for my poems - not for them to be masterpieces, but for them to strike a chord and make people think when they read them.
