To an Israeli Soldier Empty To an Israeli Soldier

As-Salaamu alaikum

I wrote this a few days ago after reading many horrifying things that was going on in Gaza. I didn't feel that it was written that well, so I wasn't going to post it, but I shared it with one sister and she told me that I should post it around.

To an Israeli Soldier:

A mother screams
A father cries,
What do you do?
Do you watch them die?
An orphan whimpers,
He struggles to breathe-
To inhale and exhale
Buried alive in his grave,
Under layers of rubble,

Do you hear them scream?
Do you walk away?
Do you hear them still?
Day after day?

What did they do?
What was their crime?
Was it so wrong,
For them to dream,
Of a nation of their own,
Of freedom like yours?

When you go home,
What do you see?
When you drink your cup of water,
Is your thirst satisfied?
When you turn on the t.v.,
Do you tear, at all,
When you see what you’ve done,
The atrocities of your war?

When you sit alone,
Do their yells haunt you?
What happened to your heart?
It seems it was broken-

Long before,
Buried,
Beneath its own kind of rubble.

SubhanAllah! That's a very effective poem indeed! I've been wondering the same kind of thing myself, and now you've put my thoughts, questions together for me but in an articulate way, masha'Allah. Do continue to share your work with us. I really look forward to them. friends
