A Different Type of Poem Structure
Alhamdulillaah, our last few posts have seen contributions from our dear sisters in the area of poetry.
Some of you may know of this form of poetry which follows the A B B A structure and is intended to give a mirror effect.
Here is an example that I did very quickly:
Deen.
Make wudu.
Me . You.
There prayer.
Cover hair.
Saves from sin.
Women and men.
Cleans the heart.
Sets us apart.
Upon Tawheed.
Humanities need.
One. One.
No son.
Deen.
Make wudu.
Me . You.
There prayer.
Cover hair.
Saves from sin.
Women and men.
Cleans the heart.
Sets us apart.
Upon Tawheed.
Humanities need.
One. One.
No son.
Deen.
So the first line has only 1 word; the next four lines have 2 words in each sentence and the words rhyme with each other; the next four lines after that have 3 words in each sentence and they rhyme (ending rhyme in this case); then the poem mirrors and you go back to two lines having 2 words each and the last line repeating the first word of the poem.
When I first read a poem like this it seemed easy enough but some thought has to go into it to keep the form and rhyme consistent. Have a try insha'Allaah?

Re: A Different Type of Poem Structure
This is one which I have just written and made me quite emotional doing so due to current events in the arab world subhanAllah:
REVOLUTION
speak out
even shout!
stand proud
loud crowd!
I’m no lout
Let it out!
We want more
Feed the poor!
People die
Ask why!
Must try
Don’t cry.....
REVOLUTION!

Assalamou aleikoum wa rahmatoullah wa barakatou
I think this structure is quite hard and time consuming. It does give beautiful results though, I like it, but I do not think I could use it. But you never know
Mashallah, I love the Revolution poem.
